Once upon a time there was a Pre-prep Headteacher.

She had taught for 24 years. Eek.

Day in, day out, she delighted in the joys of children, and dreamed. Of owning her own female trade business.

One day Kirsty jacked in her job. She completed a Plastering course. Then a Tiling one. Then a Painting & Decorating one. Then a Plumbing one. Kirsty likes learning things! She’s currently doing an electric course. However she needed help.

Someone who has passion.
Someone who has desire. Someone as crazy as her. 

Along came Sophie. Another teacher and SENDCo. So she attended Dulux Academy, making her an epic Painter & Decorator. Then she completed a tiling course. Then a plastering one. Flooring course is next!

Together they planted a seed. And when two women plant a seed, it grows fast!

Along came Burnt Cake Ltd.

why burnt cake?

Legend or fact…the most enduring folk image of King Alfred happened near Winchester during the Anglo-Saxon times, when he was on the run from the Vikings. The story has us believe he took refuge in the home of a peasant woman. She asks him to watch her cakes – small loaves of bread – baking by the fire, but distracted by his problems, he lets the cakes burn and is roundly scolded by the woman.

We named the business Burnt Cake as we pay close attention to detail and although we’re not actually in the food industry…we won’t let any distraction get in the way of a job!
